What is an "unmarked" crossing?

When I lived in Kalispell (five years ago) I don't recall seeing any "unmarked" crossings.

There were lots of crossings that had only crossbucks, but a crossbuck (as well as the round advance sign) "marks" a crossing. I believe that along U.S. 2 that all of the intersections along the stretch where the railroad immediately parallels the highway had an intersection sign that clearly showed a railroad track was part of the intersection.

If it were a private crossing, then there MIGHT be an argument, if AND only if the driver was clearly unfamiliar with the road. But I strongly doubt it...
