George, your point is well taken. In the MSHA classes I take yearly they talk about just this
kind of condition where the "sluff" has very little if any adhesion to the slope face and all it
takes is a little lubricant aka water or ground movement to let it slide. This looked very much
like it. The trees on the slope look to be 15-18 years old so the area had probably been logged
in the late eighties to early nineties.
