Detours are part of the cost of doing business and the additional cost to the RRs are part of their announcement " it was costing us X number dollars while the line is out of service". Not all rosey in the railroad world and why their cost ratio is so much higher than trucks. Airlines are going through a similar issue with the spikes in fuel.
