My fondest hope would be that SANBAG and the LA Metro folks could sit down and discuss what would be in the best interest of the riders and populous. I would personally like to see a joint-use line from roughly Upland to Ontario. The other user could be SANBAG's entry into light rail for San Bernardino Co. The "railbanked" section of the onetime San Berdoo PE, currently referred to as the PE Trail could be reinstated through Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana and Rialto to provide an alternative, slower and more frequent stoppage line to augment and feed Metrolink, and to give San Bernardino Co. a transit access to Ontario Int'l. A cross -platform option from Metrolink to light rail is also possible in the Upland/Pomona section and would be ideal. Such a secondary system could allow the Berdoo Metrolink line to be upgraded to a PTC/ATS and 90 mph express line. At one time, the ATSF had 90 mph ATS signaled service from around Santa Anita to San Bernardino. Direct interchange from an LA-San Berdoo rail link would make Ontario a truly progressive air terminal.
