As much as I would love to see a "G" racing along on a three track main with a brace of Budd coaches . Their time has past. The cracked cast truck frames and carcinegin laced inards sealed their fate. The concept of rebuilding the insides with modern equipment and casting new frames would be cost prohibitive to say the least. We should be happy that so many examples exist in museums. Sadly the 4800 sits outside , rusting and weathered. Others are in even worse shape.
