Thanks for the responses.
The nice thing about being a foamer, and not a railroader, is that I can appreciate the ascetics without having to actually run the beasts.
My dad was an SP engineer and he used to take me to work with him when he was running a local out of Tracy. He used to request an RS32, the roundhouse foreman loved it. He said nobody else wanted the piece of junk. Of course I really enjoyed riding around in it.
I love chasing ALCos. Maybe I wouldn't if I had to run them myself.
