I really appreciate the comments I have received on the photos I have been posting. I have been adding them to my photo notes.
Today another little EMD:
Southern Pacific SW900E 1191 at Roseville, CA in September, 1974. Is that the old SP hospital, or was it a clinic, behind it? Was that a former depot?
Reportedly (
sources) SP 1191 was built in June 1954 as SP 4631, Class DF-306 serial number, order number 4276, serial number: 19647, frame number: 4276-6. Changed to Class DS-606 in 1963. Changed to SP 1177, SP Class ES409-2 in the 1965 renumbering. 1177, was rebuilt to SW900E 1191 SP Class ES409E-1 by SP at Houston in Aug. 1974. Retired in Dec. 1986 sold to Levin Metals in Oct. 1987.
Information, stories, suggestions, comments and/or constructive corrections are appreciated.
