How many times have we heard this kind of story from somebody trying to put a two-bit con over on us? "Everything would have worked out if only (insert variable sob story here) hadn't happened." Like some guy holding an empty gas can (which he'll ditch as soon as he gets to the liquor store), or the small-time contractor explaining why he abandoned your half-built patio, or this guy telling you why this or that part of his grand scheme was thwarted by amazingly ill-timed misfortune (even more amazing is that it seems to happen--with a few changes in the details--at every turn). There's very little unique about this guy. Personally, I prefer Britney.
