In comparison, if a passenger train got marooned (snowbound) stuck in the snow in a remote location as was the case on January 17, 1952 when the City of San Francisco became marooned at Yuba Gap on the Donner Pass (Overland) Route would the technologies available today epidite such a rescue quicker and more effeciently as opposed to the case in 1952? Could such a situation ever happen again at such a remote location for such an extended period of time?

Does the railroad still have any snow cat vehicles or similar type vehicles to use in such a resuce, did they in 1952?
