See what I mean? Its the best show in town!
And now a new plot twist, The Reverend Don Kirk! CEO of the OTM was not enough.
What I find interesting is that he is not so much interested (or even slightly knowledgeable) of railroad history. Instead, he is motivated by nostalgia- or more to the point, nostalgia for nostalgia, looking back to the 1950s Knott's Berry Farm (no thrill rides) which in itself looked back at an idyllic past.
But the more I watch this, the more I believe that he is entirely serious. I don't think this is a get rich scheme- although if he got rich, he would feel totally justified. It is more like an obsession in which big talk is used in small towns to drum up support for his huge dreams. Now with the addition of the religious element it begs the question, are we talking San Simeon or Jonestown, with a monorail, trolleys and horse and buggy rides?
But who will drink the kool-aide?
