I went in there once in 69, on the GGM to get a car. There were all kinds spots and a balloon track.
A little later, the SP pulled the switch from No.2 at McKay and that was it. Any traffic was spotted at East Garrision, just north of the Salinas River Bridge. East trains had to drop them in there. Sometime later, in the 80s, they put the switch back at McKay and installed new crossing equipment.
I remember the Griswold crossing equipment when it was 101. ( I was about 7) When SP took out the switch, the 2 Griswolds disappeared. I got a call years later and they found the signals at a Cal-Trans employee's house, along with street lights, etc. They called Sid Marquis the maintainer in SLO and asked what the SP wanted to do with the Griswolds. SP didn't want them (there was 10V DC and 110V AC in the same unit). Soooo I wound up with one and Loomis in Oceano got the other. The one I received, I donated to the Southern Oregoin Live Steamers in Medford, OR. It had the spot lights and the stop signs and cross bucks had the glass reflector type "buttons" in them.
