Very well put, SP5103. Many years ago as my high school days were ending, I was fortunate to meet William Huebner, who was then Road Foreman of Engines for Santa Fe's Coast Lines. He was a friend of my dad's shop foreman. During dinner he could see my intense interest in railroads, and I'm sure also my innocence of just what was involved in " Working on the Railroad. " He gently suggested that if I wanted any semblence of a life, the railroad certainly wasn't right for me. SOOO... taking his advice to heart, I found the occupation with possibly the next worse working hours and conditions : Truck Driving.
