Just imagine that Seton Lake is just as deep - maybe deeper than the mountains around it are high. Actually, try to imagine that the slope descends at the same angle into the lake. It all does, and this is very treacherous terrain - not to be taken lightly... One of the most precarious sections of rail besides one or two lines in Colorado or Alaska...
