Puget Sound, to the West, draws the attention of most train passengers. To the uphill / east side are several very large gravel pits. Supplied nearly all Puget Sound perimeter needs. Almost all by barges; some via rail.
The SPORTS section of today's The Seattle Times has an article about the Chambers Bay Golf Course that Pierce County built at one of these gravel pits. Glowing report about the course. No mention of the BNSF mainline just a few feet away, with train frequency of maybe 1/4 to 1/2 hour.
The U.S.Open in 2015 is scheduled here. No golf cart roads / no golf carts.
I'd appreciate comments from train passengers that have watched it's development. Do the golfers pause for the trains to go by? (pass through)
