This project has a very interesting history. An interesting re-purposing of a failed ethanol plant and their Oregon DEQ fine for shipping more than their permit allowed.
If one reads some of the public input on the Connect Oregon V project for downtown Rainier rail/road separation, you will find a LOT of concern about oil shipment in the Gorge. The first responders are really not prepared to respond to a tank car rail wreck....according to some of the small town Mayors.
Personally I would much rather have a coal rail wreck than oil (of course no wreck would better but then "stuff" happens and should be expected........Arlen
