A rose by any other name - The Shasta parlor car noted above began as a Shasta Daylight coach with crew room at one end. The car was bought by Dick Reynolds who converted the crew room into a quaisi bar and pantry. A window affair was cut into the bulkhead, allowing drinks to be served in the main body of the car. Furnishings - chairs, sofas, etc. - came from a UPRR lounge. While this car enjoyed fairly widespread use for a time, it was never called a "parlor" no sold as such.
