Yes I can speak to this. Yes the EPA is causing problems with reopening the fourth sub. But despite the hopes of getting the permitting in place to reopen the line by the first snow. It does not look as this will be a reality. Hoping now to begin the final bit of rehab the coming spring. I'm not positive but I do think the second sub will be shortened up. After the bridge fire no real chance of it reopening. A couple of utilities are trying to buy/lease it for two differnt projects. One is a gas pipeline to grangeville from lewiston. Second is a fiberoptics line that will run from spokane to Boise. Not to say that it could not be done and keep the railroad in place. But seems like a good time to pull the plug. But last time I spoke with mike Williams on this(Thursday of this week) he was still debating tearing any of the second sub out. East of orofino the first sub is safe as far as kamiah. No longer having any customers in kooskia I'm not sure what will happen out there. A couple of washouts made storing cars out there difficult. But now even the pole yard is gone in kooskia so not really any prospect of traffic returning. I'm fairly positive the rumor came from some watco folks about abandoning east of arrow and south of Spaulding. They made a proposal to mike on the subject. With the gnrw possible running the trains on the bgcm. See the real estate on the first sub and part of the forth sub is jointly owned by bgcm and gnrw. Each having 50%. Bgcm having exclusive desicion making rights in regards to when anything would be sold off. But watco did try to market this idea to mike Williams. Made a lot of economic sense. Way more money in selling the row to build gated communities and cabins then there is in hauling freight. But mike loves that railroad and that is his main motivating factor. But one never know what the future holds. With grangeville and lewiston now being the same mill. And potlatch selling off land in Jaype area. With a blink of the eye the bgcm could find itself with no traffic. I can't remember but I think they only garenteed the log haul for 3 or 5 years. I know there should have been way more capitalized letters in my post. But it's late and you will just have to bear with me. And I better do this before I get asked. First sub is Lewiston to kooskia. Second sub is Spaulding to craigmont. Fourth sub is orofino to revling.
