That work was an emergency. Anything planned must go through the red tape. The RTC did make things easier by doing an easement swap with La Selva Improvement Co that has allowed the contractor to place cranes above on land adjacent to the ROW instead of below on the state beach property.

A good example of another local railroad bridge replacement that went through Ca Coastal Commission approval is UP's Parsons Slough project a decade ago.
