I do remember the Del Monte Express. But, my favorite was the Sand Train that groaned its slow rout to the plant in Pebble Beach. On a couple of occasions, compelled by youthful bravado, my friends and I would catch a ride from Monterey to Lover's Point or vise-versa. It was only through the luck of the ignorant and some much needed divine intervention that no one was ever killed. In retrospect, it was exciting, illegal and great fun.
