It's not really a good idea to publicize a test run, there's too many chances that something will go wrong and you'll have to postpone. So I can understand why they didn't make a big deal about it.

What I don't understand is why they totally denied it was going to happen after the news leaked out over on TrainOrders. A message was posted specifically saying the engine wouldn't run.

It would have made a lot more sense to reply along the lines of "Yes, if everything goes according to plan, we'll be doing a test run, no passengers though, and keep in mind it may be postponed..." But to simply lie and say it wasn't going to happen? That's not cool.
