The new bridge is being built with Corten steel which is known for its resistance to corrosion . Click here for Wikipedia page on Corten steel

Corten steel does not necessarily require painting but the SCCRTC has chosen under the direction of their consultant JL Patterson to coat the bridge with a heavy duty paint designed for these applications to prohibit any corrosion on parts that may not be made of Corten.
