A "Timekeeper" goes over all timeslips or claims issued to a department, for payment. If they find something out of place, they reject the claim and it has to be handled higher in the chain. Every department had timekeepers. Take the Western Division,Operating Department:

They would have timekeepers for Engineers, Fireman, Brakeman, Conductors, Switchman, Mof W, Signal Dept., etc. That would be the tip of the iceburg for just one division. It would take a day to explain it but that is about it.

As far as DJR, I thought he started out as a Rod Man in Oregon.
