There was supposedly the shortest railroad tunnel in the U,S. through a chunk of granite on the line between Banks and Cascade. I may be wrong, but I seem to recall that they had issues with it or that it collapsed. Does anyone know. It was located about a mile downriver (Payette R.) from the highway bridge. I remember riding with crews several years ago on that line.
Thanks and regards,
Rolland
