In the 60's and early 70's, southeast Michigan was a great place for a railfan, what with common steam excursions put on by the Michigan Railroad Club (and Art Weber), and GTW round trips to Durand that got you back to Royal Oak in time for dinner. Loved my time in Colorado (Manitou Springs) exploring old right of ways, and adore it here in central Washington, but the Detroit area was a great place to cut my railfan teeth.
