Gold Line is track 1 & 2. Only 16 tracks had platforms, no motr.
Several tracks were indeed west of track 1 & 2, used for mail and express. These were A & A-1 through track E.
Also on the East end was track 17, which was a switching storage track, no passenger platform. Between 3 cross overs, had holding pockets for two six car spots and one 5 car spots.
13-14 now being placed back in.
15-16 will be placed back in, when the long awaited through tracks are construced. Tracks 3-4-5-6 will have access south to the San Diego Main line.
The so called Garden Tracks were built as private car tracks. They were not mail/express tracks. Post office had its own two tracks, where mail was unloaded into a moving belt.
5 tracks as built. One removed in the 60's, one more removed when Gold Line was built, as it would not clear the passenger cars/bridge.
