We had NOT gone to a new low by discussing it as it is just one of those interesting topics that should be mentioned.
Leap Year Day traditionally being an extra date in the calendar is utilized by many as a date to get extra tasks done by many and the railroads certainly could use this extra time the date provides to move their shipments.
By the way, the railroads established the system of standard time zones to manage their schedules and it was an interesting topic regarding how they would manage another aspect of time i.e. the Leap Year Day which is an extra date that falls every four (4) years with the exception of the last year of every century if that year is not divisable by four (4).
Railroads have provided additional other services that just only transporting commodities to such as providing movements that are ceremonial and of cultural importance such as the American Freedom Train, the UP Olympic Torch Train, the Christmas Trains and the USPS Century Express etc. Just like a Leap Year Express would be if there were such a train.
So I would guess that your argument would be that these other ceremonial aspects to railroading shouldn't be discussed as well if how they observe leap year day shouldn't as well. What a nonsensical and unrealistic manner with this post to ignore the reality of this situation.
