I've seen a lot of proposed "revolutionary" transportation schemes, as for a while, I used to be the one my boss sent to listen to these schemes, so he wouldn't have to waste his time, with some of the more bizarre crazies.

Many of these simplistic schemes try to assume away the consolidation and break bulk problems, associated time and motion problems, or things like supply and demand imbalances, and, as the cartoon once said, "then the miracle occurs".... And then, folks are just magically transported to their destinations...

These revolutionary transportation schemes are, of course, always faster and cheaper than any other transportation system known to man, and this will be done without an evil "gubmint" subsidy, to boot, Although, often followed by the words, "if you only give us a little bit of taxpayer funding to refine the details....".

It's on par with the same type of miracle that makes the traffic just magically disappear, if you believe hard enough in "new-urbanism", so popular these days.
