What about relocating the Wilson seed plant to Fallon? Then you'd have enough relay rail to make it almost all the way to Uniontown! Still, the real estate value of the ROW through Pullman may trump any pipe dream of rebuilding to Uniontown for a new shuttle loader.
Are the accounts at Kitzmiller or Whelan still active? If not, then Fallon would be the last active account sans the Wilson seed plant, right?
The real estate argument is just as pronounced for the W&I tracks through Pullman as the old UP coal hopper cleaning tracks, should that seed plant be convinced to relocate north of Pullman. All that land along North Grand Avenue, wow!
As for Pullman recycling, I think all that stuff goes out to the county landfill NW of town along the Colfax highway, wherein the salvagables are loaded into trucks. The de facto garbage is trucked to Arlington (BTW - did anyone see the news on that Waste Mangement truck hitting that car west of Colfax? Too bad those containers don't go by rail to Arlington!), some metals are trucked down to Pacific Steel down in Lewiston, biomass also to Lewiston to the mulch plant, etc. In other words, all that stuff is headed to disparate locations, easy for truckers but not necessarily for railroaders.
