Milwaukee Road in Snoqualmie falls

I finally got around to visiting Snoqualmie Falls in Washington State.
I was surprised to find the numerous static locomotives and rolling stock in town, a rail line that bent around the falls, and a station that was well preserved. I thought that this was a Milwaukee Road branch line that extended to a small mill outside of Snoqualmie Falls. If this is true, why such a large passenger station? Was it the end of the line for vacationers/visitors to the falls? Was it relocated to it's current site from somewhere else?
I also discovered (in other words got lost, and stumbled upon) a line that crossed a road near the I-90 that had newer crossing gear, and seemed to lead downhill into town. If there is any activity on this line, I imagine it's minimal. I really don't know much about the old Milwaukee, but where does this line connect to other railroads in the area? Where can I find out more info pertaining to this subject?
Thanks,
almo
