Also regarding the Milwaukee Road in Snoqualmie Falls, their line up the valley to Monroe was abandoned in the 1970's in favor of trackage rights over BN ( ex - NP ), from Renton to Snohomish Jct. where they already had rights into Everett & north to Bellingham, WA. Only the portion of the branchline from Tanner to the MILW mainline @ Cedar Falls was operated by BN,as was trackage rights to Maple Valley. The MILW Mainline from Maple Valley to Black River Jct. was actually owned by BN by virtue of the GN buying the Pacific Coast RR. way back when. BN obtained trackage rights to MILW Snoqualmie in the 1970's so they could abandon their afore - mentioned line through Fall City. The trestle over U.S. 10 in Issaquah needed to be torn down for the new Interstate 90 construction.
Much of the Milwaukee line through the Snoqualmie Valley is still visible, with the portion from Fall City to Duvall an " Improved " bike trail. The trestle over the Skykomish River in Monroe was removed in 2006 due to flood / fire damage.
