Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad’s largest shipper, Roseburg Forest Products, has notified the rail line that they intend to file a complaint with the Surface Transportation Board alleging that CORP has failed to fulfill their obligations as a common carrier railroad.
A letter from RFP’s rail traffic manager Andy Jeffers sent to the CORP’s General Manager Kevin Spradlin on February 25th outlined frustration with RailAmerica. Jeffers says since a service reduction was put in place on the Southern portion of the Siskiyou Line from Ashland to Black Butte, California, communications between the two companies has gone ‘to zero’ and no explanation has been offered in regards to service failures.
Copies of the letter have been sent to Oregon’s Congressional Delegation and to Senators in both California and Oregon.
Roseburg Forest Products operates 7 plants along the CORP lines, including mills in Dillard, Coquille and Riddle. RFP also operates the Engineered Wood Facility just South of Riddle and log operations in Weed, California.
