Hi George and All:
I responded in detail and in private to 'smokebox' and 'SDA' with some of my concerns and forthcoming video plans. I did not want to respond on A-P because of the continued sarcastic remarks from some of you. I repeat, "some" ..
Anyway, let's forget all the trash and move on.. Fair enough, guys ??
First, I have NEVER been to Winterail. Never heard of it during my 48 years in the Bay Area.
I really don't plan on going because of hostilities shown to me on these Boards.
It is probably better that way.
SMOKEBOX simply mentioned about the lack of STEAM stuff at your big show. I mentioned I have plenty in my Archives as can be verified by Tony Johnson of SP Review fame. Infact, we swap our own videos back and forth all the time.
I have recently produced two railroad videos, but I will not say more, because David Curlee will get after me for attempting to advertise, and I respect his rules.
Currently, the grand documentary of the April 25, 1971 running of the "Truckee Limited" is in mid-production at the film lab. Video editing remains to be done. I think you'll like it, for those that are interested in SP Passenger operations.
On the tail end of the DVD will be extensive BONUS footage of the CWR, WP, NWP, FRR, and Caspar operations. Enough said on that..
Note to "GG": Sorry I didn't reply sooner.
Regarding WINTERAIL one last time: About five years ago, Vic Neves and I were in communication about what types of film I have. He didn't seem very supportive about showing it to you folks even though I had mentioned about wanting to be a PRESENTER in 2008, which some of you may recall. At the time, that was three or four years into the future!
In the past month or so, I took Geo. Andrews advice and contacted Evan Werkema who is on Vic's W-R staff. Told him I would send him a copy of the "Truckee Limited" and asked him to find out later this Summer from Vic, if I could be a PRESENTER at Winterail-2009 and show you guys the DVD, possibly with the BONUS footage. Evan said SURE!
So we'll go from there. Ok??
Sneek Peek: One of the clips of the BONUS footage shows WP # 94 piloting the Cal-Zephyr from Fremont into Oakland.. But maybe you guys are more interested in colr slides, I don't know.
Anyway, we'll see what happens.
A special note to my friend "George Andrews" (if you read this) ---
"Regarding the validation of "chasing trains" together.....
