Sorry about the error. I do remember seeing a taken from above of a lone NWP Budd RDC in a scenic canyon on the way to Eureka in a Trains magazine pictorial on the West in the late fifties. I'd say about '57-'58.

And then a few years ago, a lot later to be sure, I picked up a video at the library on rails in the Northbay and the various iterations of the NWP and inded I there was a photo of a Budd RDC with a well battered front end. I guess that was the "one". I assumed they had more and that it had to come out of a place with some people, ergo Santa Rosa. I guess I was giving more credit to the SP than it was due.
