That's different than the plans I saw, which showed the freeway passing under the tracks where Greene St/ Market St street does now. The Freeway was then in a trench between the tracks and Market St until near the south end of the old GN yard where the freeway went to the east side of the tracks and up through the middle of the old yard site. South of the undercrossing of the tracks, the freeway would be on a elevated structure over the Spokane Community College parking lot next to Greene Street. Market and Greene Streets would still connect under the tracks, but the connection would be straighter and west of the current underpass. My question is if you have the freeway and tracks stacked on top of each other, where do the cross streets go? The original plan as I described above made more sense because the cross streets bridged over the sunken freeway and crossed the moderately used tracks at grade. and there was plenty of visibility at the crossings.
