Amen to that. Suspect that the car design (and especially the seat design, as uncomfortable as it is) did help reduce injuries of the passengers. But what if anything was done for the engineer is unknown - wasn't part of the general discussion at the time, after those wrecks that killed a bunch of passengers.
Also, did you notice in the pictures - something (no idea what) penetrated the "nose cone" right in front of the engineer's cab. There's a hole in the fiberglass at that point, below the windshield. So there might be more going on than just getting thrown around as the wreck happened.
Of course, if the engineer doing the training was standing up at the time of impact, he certainly got thrown around. Even on a jump seat (usually not located in a good place in the cab) that would probably happen. I feel for his family and friends - they're going to need help.
