RDC's are infamous for the fatal accident at Redondo Jct. due to too much speed, but with some pretty horrific injuries and fatalities in the mid fifties.
I suspect this accident might have been one more reason that SP pulled their RDC off of the Oak-Sac Senators, and gave it to the NWP for the Eel River crawler where speeds in a collision would be much lower, and where it hit a logging truck anyhow.
Mark's picture says a lot-it's not exactly the widest or most "robust" "plough" to "sweep" that debris clear of the trucks, is it?
It will be an interesting accident report to read.....
