Orlando to Miami proposed rail line is actually an HSR (110 mph)design on a number of segments, per the Federal FRA/legislative definition, it's just not a super HSR project.
All Aboard Florida, is being designed by folks wanting to actually make money on a passenger rail investment, not just spend it. They've done their homework about passenger demands, and have not taken so many drugs that they're having hallucinatory "visions".
All Aboard project planners have chosen an affordable high speed system design that saves significant travel time and sells affordable seats to passengers, in lieu of the maximum possible speed, regardless of costs or benefits.
All Aboard is not being designed to achieve very expensive, but often unnecessary, super high speeds, just in order to satisfy the bizarre sub conscious needs of politicians inflated egos...........or to collect political contributions (aka "bribes") from the public contracts they give to a few "lucky" contractors.
It never hurts to look these things up.
