Just north of Chiloquin, upstream from Collier State Park (don't miss the great logging museum), the Williamson river enters a very scenic rock gorge. The railroad follows along the east edge, near the top. Photographing trains here could be very good with afternoon lighting. The road is a high clearance road and you probably should be in a 4 wheel drive, especially if wet. It's NF9734 and leave hwy 97 to the on the east side right at the top of Spring Cr. grade.
We were out there last month, no snow here this winter, but timing was wrong and we missed a couple trains by minutes, being in spots where photos weren't possible. Hopefully we'll do better next time.
