Thanks for the heads up, Hal. Got just enough trips already planned for this year, it's gonna be tough deciding whether or not I can make it down. Saw nothing on the SBRHS site about diesel protection. Will they let her climb both sides of Miramar unassisted? Some modest 1%+/- hills to tackle southbound through El Toro, southbound at CP Pulgas, and northbound out of Mission Viejo as well. Just enough to make her work a bit at speed. Haven't seen a good-looking main line steam run since the 700 crossed north Idaho and western Montana all weathered-up and pouring on the smoke.
