I think the pressure to add an Amtrak train or two will succeed with these kinds of subsidies and I also think that there may be pressure from the Ports of Oakland and Benecia to get the clearances increased so that shipping costs and times can be reduced so a benefit for more then the UP. I'd sure love to see the old line over Donner reinstalled though but I doubt that will happen.
