Don't remember the NWP incident, but there was a definite train wrecking incident on the Espee between Fairfield and Bahia during the Viet Nam war. FBI investigation revealed definite intent using, if I recall right, some kind of rail jack. Speculation that it was anti war anarchists, or some such. No leads ever developed to my knowledge.
