Patrick Vaughn
May 1, 1946 – February 6, 2015
James Patrick Vaughan, 68, ascended to a better life on February 6, 2015 after a six month struggle with lung cancer. Pat was born in Yuma, AZ on May 1, 1946. His father was a locomotive engineer on the Southern Pacific Railroad, whose promotions caused the family to move to towns in Texas, California, and Oregon. One of these was San Luis Obispo, CA, which later became Pat's home. After serving in the Marine Corps for three years in the 1960s, Pat followed in his father's and grandfather's footsteps and became an engineer for Southern Pacific. For forty years he worked in that capacity or as a supervisor of engineers. After retiring in 2006, Pat enjoyed traveling to many foreign lands, as well as motorcycle touring on his Harley in the U.S. He was predeceased by his parents; his second wife, Gabrielle; daughter, Sacha and son, Patrick. Pat is survived by his daughter, Brianna; son, James; grandsons, Jacob and Jonathan; brother, Rich (Janie); sister-in-law, Tanya; nephew, Ren, and partner, Susan Hay. He will be deeply missed by his family and by his many friends. A memorial Service was held on February 21 with a graveside service following thereafter at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park.
