Heck, with all the trackage still in place in the Spokane-CD'A area, no need to mess with light rail, heavy rail commuter has some significant potential by simply upgrading the existing line. CD'A branch services some decent populated areas where stations and park and rides could be built. (The UP CD'A line had more potential in many ways as it hit Post Falls and CD'A, then connected with the SI main to hit valley shopping mall, with existing park and ride and Millwood and had the ability to slip into Spokane depot without getting directly on the BNSF main---slip down Erie one into depot from SI main.) Mind you, heavy rail isn't "perfect", but much cheaper to start than building all new light rail stuff. Oh, well, dream on. We will tear it all out and sell off the land, then come back in 25 years and try to buy it all back up again---after going through years of public hearings, protests and lawsuits.
