Here's an update on the Westside Express Service (WES) construction. First, the south end:
The station in Tualatin, which had been threatened with delays due to some local opposition, is under construction along with the other WES stops. it is located just north of Tualatin-Sherwood Road, adjacent to Boone's Ferry Road.
The station in Wilsonville, on SW Barber Street, is also well on its way to completion. Crews have added a second track north from the station site. A large banner along the fencing at the south end of the station area, showing one of the TriMet-schemed DMUs, is annuncing the Fall startup of the service.
The WES shop complex is also under construction just across the tracks from the station. It has a single run-through bay and one outside storage track. The shop lead off the main is north of the building.
No DMUs are on site yet. According to a contact at Oregon DOT, the first one should arrive sometime in April.
On the north end, crews have laid the single-track Lombard Street alignment across Canyon Road. At the service's northern terminus, Beaverton Transit Center, the high-level platform is taking shape.
TriMet has posted the service's initiial schedule on its web site at www.trimet.org/
