Too Big to Fail Rail

That's what I am calling CAHSR. No bailout too big to save it.

Does anybody have a leak on the inside at PB as to what they have decided to do between Palmdale and Burbank? They claim they have not made up their mind but I consider that just so disinformation.

Clem Tillier has run some estimated times on the very long tunnels proposed thru the Angeles National Fores and suggest they could come close to the Prop 1a 2:40 travel time. That is a strong argument, but if Palmdale high desert commute service is the real raison d'etre behind CAHSR then the SR14 alignment would allow more commute stops and more wildly profitable sprawl.

My take is they will pick the route where the poorest(relatively)people live.

Another good point Clem made is that these tunnels cannot be true base tunnels as the rule is no crossing of active faults in tunnel. Since both the San Andreas and Garlock are located high up on the various mountain crossing routes a true base tunnel cuttng straight thru the Tehachapi cordillera is not allowed.
