Quite an extensive report. Its doubtful if many will read it from cover to cover but one graph on ridership clearly won with "I don't want any trains at all", so if this attitude persists Huston won't be the only place with a 'problem'!
Not much mention of the tourist aspect of the line which its position alone in one of the most scenic areas of the country justifies. That is most important to the SRR, NVRR and further afield like those in Colorado and other Western states. SMART is all very well but it can't compete with the others in scenery and tourism.
So if the transit side seems too imposing, upgrade the present system. Run dinner trains, wine trains, Thomas trains; anything to bring in the money and improve the existing infrastructure. Then revisit this report.
