Increased use of railroad shipping due to the high fuel cost crisis???

Isn't it true that the actual fuel cost per mile for shipping by train is cheaper than by truck? Like the vintage Santa Fe TV commercial advocates?
If so, given this time of record fuel costs is it likely the railroads will become busier with more freight train movements? Like on many promennt rail lines like the Donner Pass, East Valley, Feather River, Fresno, Highline, Shasta in California as some examples?
And could this situation have a positive ecomomic effect on the railroads and consumers as well if such a shift in shipping goods off of trucks and on to trains is extended?
Doesn't this situation re-instate the need for the rehabilitation to reactivate some abandoned rail (spur) lines by the railroads as well?
Certainly, passenger train patronage has increased as one such example of this situation.
Any thoughts?
