I did some digging with a couple of people, and here is what I finally got back: The interior of this caboose is cleaned out & not historic (although could be redone), Niles Canyon RR has a sister caboose, the caboose doesn't tie in with #2472's future passenger train, and when would it actually get restored? Better to send it to a new home that sees potential in it, rather than have it go to scrap someday (like the old WP boxcar-cabooses they had) or go to a private party to plant as a cabin. I guess #2472 is their high interest piece of equipment, but actually my idea of a GGRM poster child would be 2 running A-A F-7's. Maybe able to actually operate somewhere if restored to FRA rules? Yeah, SP F-7's from SF to the Garlic Festival! Also on the wish list: Niles Canyon pass & photo freights w/ the Black Widow GP-9/SD-9 lashup.
