M&ET moves serious tonnage

This Saturday afternoon, the M&ET is tentatively scheduled to pull in a 100+ car loaded grain shuttle off the UP north of Molesto. It seems they will use up to seven of their GE switchers for the move. Late last night, the BNSF ran light-power from Riverbank, and was piloted on the M&ET about three miles in to get a 100 car empty shuttle and deliver to Fresno-BNSF for eastward forwarding.

Grain is being transloaded and exported at the old ramp off of Yosemite Blvd. Apparently, those fabled GEs have a limited life as parts are getting exceedingly rare and expensive. It is now rumored they will be disposed of within two years.
