Just for my clarification, I am assuming that the EDT is what is commonly called the FRED, and the HDT is the locomotive part commonly known as the MARY. This is the terminology used by both BNSF and UP train crews.

Sort of brings to mind the old caboose, cabin, waycar, crummy labels of the past!
